Let Summer Begin!

The dogs are loving my new and improved craft room... but I need to start closing the door at night so they don't sleep on the quilt I'm trying to finally put together - I started it when I was pregnant. :) At night I'd rather be in the family room with E and the baby, but so far this is proving a perfect perch since I can sew/read and hear the baby when she wakes up across the hall.

Poor kid was exhausted today - she fell asleep in the car and couldn't even stay awake while I started changing her diaper so she's off in dreamland. A wet diaper never killed anyone I suppose. I finished up all my check out stuff for school today, but my boss isn't checking people out till tomorrow AM. It won't be hard to do that with Gi though, so we'll go in early at 8 and hopefully be out of there by 9. And then the summer! I already have a long list of stuff I'd like to do, but I'm going to try to establish a bit of a routine this week first - I don't do well without one, and often flounder around the first few weeks of summer vacation because of it. I think this 1-3ish time will be for sewing, etc. in here.

The snow peas keep pouring in, so we'll have plenty for sale next week, along with the kale, mesclun, and herbs. I have a few leads that may result in being able to get rid of two of our roosters, and that'll be good. Less annoyance for the hens, and two less mouths to feed. I don't mind if they wind up as coq au vin, I just want to make sure they aren't funneled into cock-fighting, which is unfortunately common in these parts. I re-threaded and adjusted my long-neglected sewing machine last night , so I think I'll tackle that next before she wakes up, try a market bag with scrap fabric.

The next day: I tried the bag in miniature - so far so good! Now to make a normal sized one and see how that goes. In two days I have yet to "break"my sewing machine - a new record. (Breakage usually takes the form of ka-chunk ka-chunk ka-chunk noises followed by the snapping of the needle....) While looking through my fabric stash today I found yet another unfinished quilt top....I barely remember making it!
