Kitchen and Den in usable condition

We've been focusing on life upgrades instead of overall completion.

For examples of "life upgrades" see the functioning though temporary sink in the kitchen, cabinets to store food, a cleanable kitchen prep surface, and WASHER AND DRYER. No more making tuna sandwiches in the bathroom. Awesome.

Stucco

Also drywall and interior plaster.

The stucco is a great color and looks good with the window finish. The yellow paint seems over-powering now but may mellow out once the rest of the fixtures are in.

Carport and Porch

Getting closer to finished.

The carport is in, the froont porch is started, and the stairs are almost ready. All the plumbing and electrical rough-in is done.

Kitchen Rendering

...

Here's an image of what we hope the kitchen will look like. The cabinets (from IKEA) are warehoused in our living room, waiting for assembly once the floor tile is done. (The island design is still being worked out.)

Interior paint

I hate painting.

We've primed and painted the guest rooms, kitchen, laundry, bathrooms, and den. Look how happy I am about it.

Electrical meter

... and painted siding

The house swallows me while I'm running cable. (And we get a peek at the final siding color. Someday, hopefully, the whole house might look like this.)

Various things

Lots to do.

Some windows and doors, framing a skylight, get the siding up where the new electrical meter will go. And we try out our aluminum window detail.

Roof and Windows

It's really taking shape.

The roof is on and the windows are going in. I'm not to sure about the window installation detail, but that's what the contractor wanted to do.

Floor Framing

and the wall cavities are poured...

The wall cavities of the first floor have been poured and the floor framing is in. Soon we'll see the blocks up for the second floor.
