August 2004 part 2, as seen from my phone...
Sat. 14
Ahh, so, phinally having spent all of Friday the 13th night within 10 or so miles of Conventry, we spent 10 or so hours having moved less than 100 or so feet. Some people were worse off. At 6AM or so, I took a picture of the line of traffic in front of us...
Someone walked by showing off their glass art
Stephanie and Mike looking out of the sun roof
After another 6 or so hours of waiting, I decided to use my newly acquired CamelBak and take a walk down the road, seeing WTF is up with the traffic. It was a long strange trip, and I saw many weird things. I even have photographic evidence of some... here are the "Pharm Phresh Aliens - $3" and some of their friends...
Here is a picture of a common sight amongst the side of the road...
It got too warm to sit in the car, but at less than 5 MPH, I figured I could hang out... (rule of thumb: if headlights are on, cars are moving... most of the time, headlights were off).
After almost 24 hours, we made it into the campgrounds... w00t!
There are a LOT of people here!

Interesting building/structure
Mike and Stef hanging out in the soon to be their air chairs
An ... odd... performance art / structure - " Mammoth Mart" ... it somewhat reminded me of BurningMan.

Mike's father's car, before I took it to the car wash. Yeah, we got stuck in the mud.
Ben & Jerry's secret lair - home of Vermont's finest (ice-cream, anyways;-)

Google picnic. The .com excitement continues
More of the Google picnic. They had beer and liederhosen (sorry for spelling, home dsl is currently down... [writing this offline]).
More of the Google picnic. They also had rides, including overgrown inflatable slides.
More of the Google picnic. They also had Pete's chocolate and Pete himself. Clara is a fan.
One last picture of the Google picnic. The green thing at the right of the picture is the inflatable field for, get this, human foosball. More on that later (with x-rays!)...

Ah, yes, definitely back in California, where even the EMS people proudly display 420.
Ok, these pictures are not related to the EMS picture above, but to the Google picnic human foosball I mentioned just above. While playing, I managed to stub my toe (partially because I am not used to being tied to a pole limiting my movement in one dimension, partially because we were playing with two balls simultaneously, and partially because of the liederhosen and beer;-). So Clara drove me to urgent care, so I could have my toe x-ray'ed. After they took the x-ray, both the technician and Dr. first asked me: Have you ever injured your big right toe before? to which I answered, umm, no not that I can recall... So, I did not break / sprain the toe during human foosball (just banged it up a bit), but if it was not for that, I would never have x-rayed my foot and found this odd injury I must have sustained in some previous event, and never known about... (maybe it was the aliens)
