The last month or so (August 2003), as seen from my phone...
Ok, one more gratuitious picture of funny Molson beer labels:
A birthday @ work on Thursday the 7th (hmm, I didn't get a cake on my birthday!)
Friday the 8th we had our annual Corporate Games & Beer Bash: This picture is the water shark game:
Water ballon cannon launch:
& catch:
Sat. 9th - Fred's housewarming party: a friend of his & his folks hanging out:
Fred works on the iTMS, they went "platinum" :
Fred himself (very blurry & as less blurry as this camera phone gets!)
Saturday the 9th was a busy day, some more coWorker friends were having a house party. Since I stopped @ Fred's first, I got there and Jon was already done - lightweight! *grin*
They had some interesting decorations, and a friend of theirs DJ'ing:
More sillyness, some person (Nate IIRC?), Jamie on the left:
Jon even more drunk :
It is not easy working a camera when drunk:
Dueling camera phones - you can almost see me in the other phone... ok, mebbe not...:
What happens when you go to sleep with a hair band on your wrist for 9 hours FYI, there's still a small mark almost a month later!):
(Monday the 11th) Ben is still living it up as a Crazy One . He is moving back down from Ft. Bragg/Noyo to Oakland and buying a 30 foot sailboat, dingy included :
The dingy has been in the water for a while:
But the boat is nice:
Wednedsay the 13th. Panther install issues @ work. No, there's nothing really interesting / proprietary to see there (especially given the poor sync lines). You can find more pretty pictures of Panther @ Apple - Mac OS X - Panther
Thursday the 14th - met up w/ Vic & Steve & co. @ St. Stephen's Green in Mt. View, then went on to Molly's . At one point either my phone rang or somehow else the conversation went on to camera phones, so ppl wanted to check out my phone. Some very dark & drunken pictures:
ditto...
Saturday the 16th. More fun install issues. Why am I @ work on a Saturday again?
Tuesday the 19th. In bloom.
Tuesday nite, feeling jaded w/ Sugam @ Jade, a small nice bar in SF. Cameras w/o flashes are pretty useless in dark places.
Wednesday the 20th. Am I that hung over or is there text all over my desktop? Oh, right, more panics. Debug=0x144 is your fave boot-args, baby.
Yes, my desktop on this machine is a picture of Hurricane Andrew which hit South Florida in Fall 1991.
Saturday the 23rd. Tom (homepageless, cuz he is cool like that, he did not even IM until the iSight came out) invited me to go see Brett Butler (from the TV show Grace Under Fire) @ the Improv Comedy Club in SJ. This guy was the opener, and IMO, the funniest of the bunch.
Brett:
Then we went across the street to the San Jose Bar &aamp; Grill. There were 2 very drunk couples making out next to us all the time. We were not quite sure if they were swinging, or one of the girls was an 'escort', or what.
Tuesday the 26th. Randomly looking through the SF Raves Calendar I saw a posted event for "The Bay Area's longest running / most popular PsyTrance Night" @ a bar/club I have never heard of in Santa Clara called The Savoy. I had some doubts / reservations, but they had a $1 happy hour and entrance w/ a flyer or printed SFRaves listing, so I managed to convince Ammon to go. It was pretty uneventful, but the music was alright (from the PsyTrance expert I am... not). Only later did I find out that Club Savoy is a primarily lesbian club... which is cool, and goes to explain the lack of single girls in the place (being the south bay / silicon valley, this wasn't too surprising ;-) and the statistically implausible number of girl couples there.
Thursday the 28th. Last saturday (the 23rd) Vic did a small BBQ @ his place cuz his GF Kathi was out of town, and we had left-overs, so instead of doing St. Stephen's Green / Molly's in Mt. View, we BBQ'ed again. Sunset was nice, caught it a big late here:
Friday the 29th. More fun @ work. Ok, John (whose blog appears down ATPM, maybe cuz he is on vacation in Europe as I write this [Saturday, Sept. 6th] ) blogged about debugging Mac OS X, and then was followed by Louis and then Eric and possibly others, I figure I will add one small trick I figured out: how to sample in single user mode when you are netbooted and do not have any writeable mount points (cuz I am sure this happens to you all the time). /usr/bin/sample does not print out to stdout like most unix tools, by default it wants to write to a file in /tmp/, which again, in this case does not work too well. However, if you look @ it's usage, it does take a -file filename argument, which "specifies where results should be written" . So, what do you do? sample
Ok, more Friday work fun ; Patrick unearthed a prototype Apple Interactive Television Box (never shipped) (btw, no, I am not giving any info away - info about this box are quite public ; check out AppleFritter.)
Even more Friday work fun : it was Shelley's last day @ Apple, so ppl went across the parking lot to BJs Brewhouse to celebrate. Shelley is the one pounding the beer - go Shelley!
You see some silly license plates in Silicon Valley: WHILE1 (others not pictured here, XTERM, VP, GNU, XNU, FEATURE [on a VW Bettle], etc).
Saturday the 30th. Vic's gf Kathi & her friend Becky organized a birthday / pool-party for Leslie's 30th birthday. It was way fun.
Dig the "The Cure" cake.
After a day lounging in pool and drinking, nothing goes better than Keg stands!
Jon really didn't need to do one :)
but I guess that did not stop him:
