MEMORIAL DAY (C) a simple poem BY EARL F. HUBBARD JR.
(Available in my first 210 page book of poetry called HEART + SOUL at MY BLUE STORE at the first link below)
after today i'll never see her again
the month of may, will never be, the way it was way back when.
i know i'll think about her every now and then
but for the rest of my life i'll never see her again.
she was my favorite companion and my very best friend
after 17 years our time has come to an end
this old house is so lonely
it calls out her name
a ship with no sails
a fire with no flame.
now that she's gone
it won't be the same
she is peacefully sleeping
my memories remain.
THE END.
This little poem was written last year on Memorial day just a few days after our cat 'Princess' died, and I am not ashamed to admit that "I cried like a baby' when she left us. I still look at her' favorite places - under both of our tables, on our bed, on HER chair. on the sofa, in MY computer room, in the back yard where she liked to eat leaves and flowers simular to the one's up above, and sitting on the front porch with me on those hot and humid 'Whaling City' summer nights after work as I nursed a cold beer - Yes, I still stare at all of those special places (and more) and hope that it was only a dream, but sadly it was all too real - and our house feels so empty without her. efhjr.

Thanks. Let's remember + honor our 'dearly departed' on this Memorial Day Week End as we should do every day of our lifes. Peace + Love + God Bless! Earl.
