The Clear Creek Water Shed in Texas is an amalgam of wilderness, urban life, breathtaking sights, open air opportunities, actitivies, land and water treks and fun in the Clear Creek watershed. Owned, developed and managed by the Clear Creek Nature, Culture and Tourism Council, the web site is a celebration of all that is good in an area that embraces virtually untouched wilderness, a rapidly growing suburban life, contrasting work places and the relentless development and change that defines Texas. Like so much of the best of Texas, it represents undiscovered treasure - and this web site, the map for its discovery.

The Clear Creek watershed is located in southern Harris County - some 20 miles from the city of Houston. The watershed itself encompasses parts of Harris, Galveston, Brazoria and Forth Bend counties and touches 16 cities and five drainage/flood control districts. Clear Creek flows from west to east into Clear Lake and ultimately, Galveston Bay. Armand Bayou is the largest tributary to Clear Lake and is a watershed in its own right. Clear Creek watershed covers nearly 200 square miles and includes two primary streams on the Harris county side - Clear Creek and Turkey Creek. There are 154 miles of open streams within the watershed on the Harris county side, including the primary streams and tributary channels. the estimated (2000) population within the watershed on just the Harris county side is over 118,000. The likely population, for all of the watershed is likely to be over quarter of a million people in 2006. The pace of population growth has accelerated in recent years with Houston's economy as the growth engine. This pace is likely to continue into the future
