Welcome to Dyspnea 2009

The 2nd International Dyspnea Symposium will be held in San Diego prior to the American Thoracic Society meeting. At the end of our successful first meeting in 2005 the participants asked us to hold another meeting 4 years from that date to build upon this initial success. As in 2005, the second symposium will be a gathering of scientists, physicians, nurses and patients, all with a common goal of investigating and reducing dyspnea.

We've lined up a great venue on the campus of the University of California, San Diego in beautiful La Jolla. The meeting will be held in the Atkinson Pavillion at the Faculty Club. With the help of our colleagues onsite (Frank Powell and Jess Mandell) we'll have the use of the excellent facilities and CME credit will be available from UCSD.

This time we have invited renowned pain scientists to lead a session on the relationship between dyspnea and pain. We also have expert neurophysiologists who will discuss the underlying mechanisms of respiratory control. Based on our last meeting, we expect a strong scientific contribution from attendees and some lively discussion.

Information about the meeting can be found on this site using the menu at the top of the page and email announcements will be sent out periodically. If you wish to be added to the email list, please contact Andrew Binks (DyspneaCentral@mac.com).

Registration is limited to 100 attendees, and will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis, please get your registrations in as early as possible.

We look forward to seeing you in San Diego!
