Dave's Land of the Dead version 0.0.2k created by David Archbold (dwarchbold@gmail.com) ------------------------------------------------- Overview: The objective of this map is for you and your allies to survive for 45 minutes against an overwhelmingly powerful Zerg force. The Zerg forces have a constant supply of free-roaming "Zombies" (infested Terrans) who are hell-bent on getting past your defenses. The Zerg will also attack you with traditional units as they build up the tech tree. You begin the map behind secure fortifications. Each player starts with a small defense force (tanks, goliaths, marines or firebats). If a player slot is empty, the other players will inherit control of the missing players units. In addition to the starting units, each player should start with 200 supply, making the construction of supply depots unnecessary (aside for defensive purposes). Your starting base has four exits across bridges to the NW, NE, SW and SE. On each of the four bridges there is an automatic gun turret that will target enemy units that get close. At the end of each bridge is an automatic door which will open if any allied unit crosses the middle of the bridge. As long as those doors are closed, enemy Zerg units should not be able to infiltrate your base. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT YOU KEEP LAND UNITS AWAY FROM THE BRIDGES! If the doors are lowered, there is no way to raise them again and you will be permanently vulnerable. Zerg units will progress through their tech trees, as well as perform custom scripted actions against your base. The zombie Zergs will take advantage of any overlords they come across in certain locations and use them to drop themselves into your base. As the countdown timer runs down, your rescue team will draw closer. The rescue ships will appear where the beacon has been placed on the map (directly east of the fortifications). When the countdown timer hits 0, the drop ships will make their entrance. The Zerg will attempt to shoot them down so it's important that they receive cover on their way in. Unfortunately, as soon as the drop ships appear your automated defenses will suddenly fail. This means the four doors protecting the entrances to your base will lower and the gun turrets protecting the bridges will stop firing. You must hold out until the drop ships travel from their insertion zone to the pickup beacon at the center of your base. Only one drop ship needs to make the journey for you to achieve victory. If all of the drop ships are destroyed, all is lost. With your automated defenses down and the base exposed, the zombie Zerg will sense your weakness and their numbers will swell. Defeat is certain.... Requirements : StarCraft with Broodwar expansion. Tested on versions 1.11 and higher. This map uses unlocked AI scripts and features of StarEdit. It requires a map editor that supports using those "extended" features. I used StarFire Edit on Mac OS X (okay, actually OS 9.2.2 :P ) to build it. Other map editors under Windows may not open it up quite right. Seems like there are several ways for StarEdit enhancers to hack the maps and not all of them are compatible with each other....?
