Classroom Management Plan

Students are expected to understand the following expectations:
As a student, I will respect my teachers and peers by being considerate and appreciative of the differences in character, background, learning styles, and perception. I will act with integrity and responsibility.
I will respect the class because it is important that we take care of the class and its contents so that we can be rewarded for our efforts.
I will be prepared for class each day in order to promote a safe and fun classroom in which we can all learn comfortably.
If students do not conform to these expectations, the following consequences will be issued:
1.      Student - teacher conference and classroom detention (20 minutes)
2.      Parent - teacher conference and classroom detention (20 minutes)
3.      Student, parent, and teacher conference and classroom detention (20 minutes)
4.      Student will have no possibility to earn class rewards for the school year and an office referral.
*Classroom detention includes extra-work assignments and/or classroom clean up.

Late Assignment Policy
Late assignments will be accepted for 75% of the original grade the first class period late and 50% of the original grade the second class period late. It is the student's responsibility to find out what assignments were missing on dates that they were absent (excused or unexcused).

Grading Policy
The school grading policy is based on the student handbook.

Our Mission:

We're dedicated to providing our students with the experience and knowledge necessary to make science useful in their lives and to enable our students to improve the lives of others by learning how to discover new things.

Department Goals:

1. Increase science enrollment in elective classes.

2. Prepare students to make career choices in science.

3. Get students excited about science by having them participate in relevant, realistic, hands-on science activities.

4. Improve scores on state-mandated standardized assessments.

5. Support each other in our efforts to become better professional science educators.

6. Connect all major activities and course descriptions to the California Science Standards, and analyze course descriptions and test results for standards we may not be meeting.
