| Strange Business... | | Date Created: Mar 25, 2006, 08:02 PM |
This really is a strange business - it really makes the world a small one, simply because most of the people you work with travel a lot. As they travel, they work with this person or that one, so everyone literally knows everyone. If not directly, you can find out anything about anyone with a few phone calls...
I ran into a group of guys from Florida this last week who work with my cousin over there - pretty cool. The week before I ran into a group of guys who work in San Jose, and they knew him as well...
I'm just jabbering cause I'm gonna crash soon - early call in the morning, and a very long day...
I'm kinda dwelling cause I could not talk directly to the production assistant to cancel tonight. I initially was going to run Spot out in Kapalua tonight (with a strike after). The girl who called me said it would be a four hour call, and the people she's working for mean it when they say four hours. So I was expecting to get off about 01:00 in the morning, be home by 02:00, and get a descent nap (I usually sleep Sundays). I just got a message from her this morning saying that she didn't need me for Spot but did for strike - and she moved my call time to 22:30. That basically means I wouldn't get off till 02:30, and wouldn't get home till 03:30 - that is really uncool...
So I called her and left a message saying I couldn't do it - but have no idea if she got the message. She doesn't have a cell phone...
Anyway, I'm kinda "out-of-sorts". Don't know whether to be pissed or not - just kinda dangling between being pissed and not caring at all...
What kind of production assistant doesn't have a cell phone?
Kinda gets to me cause I was pretty much doing it as a favor in the first place. I don't do four hour calls on the other side of the island. It takes (at minimum) an hour to get there, the first hour pays for the gas alone, and then it takes another hour (minimum) to get back. I usually don't even think about a gig over there unless it's for day-rate, but the guy who hired her to make calls is a friend of mine...
Anyway, I should get to sleep before I start getting pissed...
