Just finished this one up this morning at 02:00. Nice little run at the MACC....
I set up the network for their offices last Friday - which basically consisted of running cable from the various, existing, public network to the proper areas, making the ends, and then testing them. No big deal...
Saturday, we set up the stage, sound wings, and spotlight towers - this was an all day affair simply due to the size of it all.
Sunday, Rusty and I spent most of the day running around putting in phone lines for their offices and dealing with other stuff when the moment presented itself...
Monday, Load-In Day. I started the day a few hours before crew call to retest everything before everyone showed up - the network connections and phone lines. I spent the rest of the day on the forklift (for the most part). Lottsa Stuff. Other than unloading the trucks, we used the fork to stack the speakers, put up the video walls, and place the spotlights. Their crew was extremely cool - easy to work with...
Tuesday, Day-Of-Show. My call time wasn't until 18:00, but I know from experience to get in ASAP. I showed up at 14:00 and got the last parking spot in the crew parking lot. I just did some personal work in the crew room (I had my computer and phone with me) for a few hours and then took a nap until 17:30. At that time we all ate and got ready for the show. 18:30, we met with the LD, got our instructions and headed up to the spot towers (I was spotlight for show). The show ran from 19:00-22:00 with a ten minute break - I didn't get to hear much of it cause I put an ear plug in my spare ear so I could hear the LD make calls. The real bummer is that what I did hear of the concert was totally distorted cause it was the bleed through from the LD's headset - which was totally insane cause the sound was just too loud and sounded "wacky" (technical term) coming through the headset. Even more of a bummer, is that we actually had to try and ignore "that sound" in our headset so we could hear the LD make the calls....
The strike went well - I was in a forklift from 22:15-01:15. We did a few more things and called it a day...
Gotta Graphics Gig at the Westin on Thursday-Friday, and a Spot Call at the MACC Saturday night - so I'm taking a long nap today... |
