Had a simple setup at the Hyatt today. Showed up and the equipment got there just a few minutes later. The guys from the AV company (their shirts said ADM, but I'm not sure what that stood for) were cool in that they just let me go for it. That made it easy cause I was able to just attack the setup. I know what's in each case by sight (for the most part) with this specific AV company we were getting gear from, so I saw the cases come in and told everyone what they were so they could put them in the right spot - which allowed us to work much faster...
I had video world setup, the downstage monitor, and both projectors up by the time the truck showed up with the audio gear. I think their guy had actually got everything plugged into the Folsom and up and running by that time as well - when all is said and done, I started at 8 and was done by 12...
I was able to work with one of the hotel guys over there - I haven't worked on that side of the island for that particular crew in about 3-4 years, cause their guys on the Wailea side are always calling me to work and I haven't had the time to go over there and do it. Anyway, it was nice to work with him and show em what I got - one of his guys from one of the other hotels over there called me a few hours ago for a gig Sunday (which I can't do unfortunately) so hopefully I made an impression there and will get a few more calls from that side of the island...
I use to work over there quite a bit, but they've had a large tunraround over there in the last few years and I don't know anyone anymore. Hope that changes... |
