So the Jack Johnson thing was actually called the Kokua Festival. For those of you who don't know, Kokua means "help". I'm not sure what or who they were helping, but I think it was some type of benefit concert. Their crew was on it and their stage manager actually gave us enough stage hands to get out of there at a decent hour (started at 22:00 and finished at 02:00 this morning)...
Basically Big Pat struck FOH, Rick struck monitor world, Little Pat took the stage hands and struck the speakers, and I struck the stage. It worked well, and when it came time for pushing they gave us plenty of help - Big Pat and I were in the container and we stuffed that thing...
As far as the actual show, it was a sold out crowd at the MACC, so as expected there was standing room only. Jackson Brown was actually there and played the last three songs or so with Jack Johnson. I was only there for the last hour or so, but it was pretty good - the crowd loved it. That's a scan of the Back Stage Pass for the sound crew you're looking at...
Saw Rusty and Mark - I miss those guys. For those of you who don't know, I use to work at the MACC full-time. Those are two good guys to work with - personally and professionally. Good people... |
