We struck the Panda show today. OK - I may have under-emphasized how large this show was. The strike crew had 4 lighting guys, 4 audio guys, 5 video guys, and two guys driving. They most likely made between 6-9 runs with a 20 foot truck and we walked away - with three loads to go - at 16:00...
Rhema called me and I'm going in tonight at the MACC to strike the Jack Johnson show - I think I may go in an hour early to check out the show a little. I rarely do this, but a lot of people I know are going to the show so I can go talk-story with my friends in the crowd before working...
Kinda funny that I don't do that anymore - I don't enjoy shows anymore. The only time I'm enjoying them is when I'm switching, or running camera, or running the stage with multiple band switchouts, or calling the show. As a spectator, I absolutely do not enjoy shows. Very weird. My whole youth I loved going to concerts and events, now that I've been working them for 10+ years I just don't enjoy "sitting down and watching the show" anymore - if I'm not a working part of it I'm either not there or asleep under the stage waiting for the strike... |
