So we went down and got our HDHI today. We just have to do an over-the-phone Q&A and we should be good. We also have to find out who we can get our HSA (Health Savings Account) through around here.
I found out about the HSA when on the way to a gig one day. I just happen to be listening to some guy on the radio who was talking about them. Funny thing is that two days later I was doing a conference for a bunch of Doctors and that is all they talked about. And, again, two days later I did another gig with a bunch of health insurance agents and it's all they talked about. I decided to look it up after that and found some good info...
It turns out to be as good as everyone says it is - so we started looking around for someone to do it. I have had a lot of you guys ask me about it lately too - so I'll keep you posted on who does what right here...
Only one company does the High-Deductible Health Insurance in Hawaii (which you must first get going before getting the HSA), and only one guy does them on the island of Maui. So we found him and did all the paperwork today.
My whole family is covered 100% beyond my $5100 deductible (that is for a year) - me, my wife, daughter, and son. So basically, I pay for all health bills out of my pocket until we reach the $5100 mark and then they take it from there.
The HSA is the really cool part of the gig - you have a lot of cool aspects to this thing that I don't have the space to go into here (I'll put a good link to stuff on the bottom of this article for you)...
So now we get to spend the next week looking for a local bank who does the HSA. I'm hoping either our regular business bank or the credit union will have it - we shall see...
