Checkin' out da Tiger - Mac OSX Review

Well, been playing and working with it for 24 hours now. Just so ya know - I had to update a few programs so they would work with it (BlogWave Studio being one of them).

Chordfinder doesn't work at all - I'm really bummed about this cause it is a great program, that I use a lot, and I have no idea when the guy is gonna update it to work with Tiger. I would do it myself, but I have no idea what license this guy is using for the program (it requires FlashPlayer to run so it is most likely proprietary).
That was a weird one actually, the program is made with Macromedia "something-or-other" but when I try to run it now (for some strange reason) Graphics Converter wants to open it...

AquaEthereal doesn't run at the moment, but I think I have to update the Fink package and re-install ethereal to get this up and running. The UNIX/Linux programs are never really a problem cause I can always reverse enginner them to get them to run - and they're open-source, so I don't get busted for reverse engineering them. The issue may be in the X11 update as well - I'll let you know what the issue is when I get it up and running...

Most everything else either upgraded itself upon first boot or worked right from the start, so I was pretty stoked from the get go...

I was actually able to get rid of a few programs cause Tiger has a version of it which happens to be better. The really nice one to get rid of was the DotMacMenu bar thing I had going on. I hated that thing, and it took a lot of system resources to run, so it was nice to see that I didn't need it anymore cause DotMac is now integrated into the system...

I was able to get rid of Konfabulator all together - and all of it's widgets - cause Dashboard is exactly what Konfabulator is. The only difference between the two is that Konfabulator's widgets actually run on the desktop (which I like) and Dashboards widgets run in the background (but you can call them up anytime you like). I guess it's just a personal preference when it comes down to it...
I lied, there is another difference. Konfabulator has been around for a long time, so there are many more widgets to choose from. But give it a few months and I'll bet ya that all the guys who made all these widgets will reverse engineer them to work with Dashboard...

The Shapeshifter theme I was working on didn't load at first. I had to update shapeshifter and candybar, but once everything was updated it worked. Very little was missing (actually it was just the icons in the system preferences), so I don't have to do that much to bring the theme back up to par with Tiger. When I get the time, this will be updated and on the site for you as well...
