The Media Machine of the "Free World" has already killed any chance of accomplishing anything we could have hoped to do in the Middle East. I talk to guys over there and they all say the same thing:
1) Nothing here is as it is portrayed in the News
2) Nothing here is as it was portrayed by the Democrats trying to get elected/re-elected.
All my buddies in Iraq say that the biggest problem is that these two minorities have the pulpit. People believe that it is all about oil, because those with the pulpit are saying so (and let's face it, most people are parrots). The troops in Iraq, my buddies, know why they are there (freedom) - and they want to be there. The majority of the people in Iraq are happy we are there, very happy to have a taste of freedom, and very excited about the democratic process...
Our news would have you believe that it is 180 degrees in the other direction. Our politicians would have you believe the same. This is actually fueling the flame to both minorities (the ones here and the ones in Iraq)...
Everytime there is a news report about how divided we are here in America, it helps to fuel the rebellion in Iraq. Everytime. The media is doing most of their work for them...
My buddy wrote me the other day from Iraq, and he simply wanted me to say this for him: "He's our Commander-In-Chief and we are at war. We fought this war to liberate a people who had never known freedom, and we will stay here until they have their democracy in place and secure. To be against our President is to be on the side of the enemy. To be against our President is to be against our troops. Want to do something productive? Grab a weapon and come join me. Unless you are willing to do that, you have nothing to say that I will ever need to hear."
