| My trucks | | Date Created: Oct 02, 2005, 12:04 AM |
I'll tell ya - I haven't had my business truck for a few weeks now and I'm already going through withdrawals. I love that truck. It's just a little '96 Chevy S-10, nothing special, but it's my hub away from home, ya know?
I actually got a ticket a few weeks ago driving my wife's truck, and have had nothing but bad things happen since then - so I'm really missing my truck. I was going to go to court to fight the ticket, but I honestly don't know if I was guilty of speeding or not. The situation itself is kinda sketchy on the part of the cop because 1) there were two cars to my left passing me, and 2) he flagged me down to pull me over (I actually saw him standing in my lane before I saw his car) as I was coming up a straight upward hill (he was at the top). I guess my questions would be:
1) What is the longest legal distance where they can radar a car?
2) Was I beyond that distance?
3) how do I know that he didn't "shoot" one of the cars passing me to my left?
4) How do I know that he even "shot" me?
I make that drive at least 3 times a week, and every time I have went by there since I don't see how he had any type of line-of-sight on me until I saw him standing in the street flagging me down.
So I don't really know what to do. I'm suppose to actually work that day. It's kind of a double edged sword really. I can make enough money in that day to just pay the ticket, and the ensuing hike in my insurance, or I can go to court and try to get it erased...
What to do - what to do...
On top of all of this, I really want to rebuild the engine on my '72 K-5 Blazer and get that thing on the road so we can get rid of my wife's truck (the blazer actually gets better gas mileage). Besides, it's a very cool truck - how many factory convertible 4X4 trucks were actually made? I just have to get a backseat (for the family), and I'm also going to get aluminum rims with road tires (I figure the aluminum rims will weigh a lot less that the metal ones - A LOT - so gas mileage should be even better)...
