System Requirements

DVD Film Transformer is a Macintosh QuickTime component. It is dependent on the G4's AltiVec instruction set (referred to in Apple marketing literature as the "Velocity Engine").

DVD Film Transformer runs under QuickTime 5 or QuickTime 6 on either Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X. (MPEG Append for OS X is required for full functionality under OS X.)

During inverse telecine, DVD Film Transformer buffers many frames of video to help detect the duplicate fields and cadence in difficult cases. This requires large amounts of available memory, so 512 MB is recommend, at least 384 MB is required.

Mac OS 9:

  • Macintosh computer with G4 processor
  • QuickTime 5 or 6
  • Mac OS 9.1 or 9.2.x
  • 384 MB RAM, 512 MB recommended
  • Sufficient disk space for the source and destination movies
  • Application with export capability such as Final Cut Pro, QuickTime Player (Pro)

Mac OS X:

  • Macintosh computer with G4 processor
  • QuickTime 5 or 6
  • Mac OS X 10.1.5 (10.2 should work but is untested)
  • MPEG Append for OS X (for NTSC output)
  • 384 MB RAM, 512 MB recommended
  • Sufficient disk space for the source and destination movies
  • Application with export capability such as Final Cut Pro, QuickTime Player (Pro)

Note:

DVD Film Transformer is a tool for working with progressive source video derived from either film or a progressive camera. It will not perform useful functions for naturally interlaced video such as that from a typical DV camera.
