OperationInstall DVD Film Transformer in your Extensions folder on OS 9 or your /Libraries/QuickTime/ folder on OS X. It is then available to all applications that support the standard QuickTime export functionality. To prepare video from NTSC source, start with a film based video clip, captured at 29.97 fps and at 720x480 or 720x486 size. You should perform no edits or transitions on this clip other than to trim-off any non-film material that may be adjacent to the target video. You can also prepare video that is already progressive in either PAL or NTSC formats. PAL video must be the standard 720x576 size and at 25 fps. NTSC video must be at 720x480 or 720x486 and at 23.976 or 24 fps. Export the clip (the exact procedure depends on the application you use). You should see a file save window with a pop-up menu. In that menu select 'DVD Film Transformer'. Click the Options button. This will open the the setup dialog for DVD Film tranformer. Select a out-of-range color handling strategy, Scaled, Clamped or Unmodified. Select a video filer to be applied to the video as it is written, Anti-alias, Median or None. Select the 'from' video aspect ratio, 4x3 or 16x9. Select the destination video system and aspect ratio, PAL 4x3, PAL 16x9, NTSC 4x3 or NTSC 16x9. Select the MPEG 2 codec you will use (or Custom for others not listed). Select the output method to use for the destination video. This is usually QuickTime Movie. Click the options button to set the codec and audio (usually 48 KHz stero, 16-bit none). If you are exporting the audio separately, click the Options button next to the audio output type to specify the output format. Once everything is set to your satisfaction, click OK to return to the save file dialog. Specify the name and location of the movie to be created and click save. When the operation completes, you will have a clip converted to tthe desired format and frame rate. You can use this in your projects or move directly to MPEG encoding. If you are generating output for NTSC, you will need to process the MPEG file with the MPEG Telecine application to make the video suitable for use with DVD Studio Pro. Just drop the MPEG video on the application and specify the new name and location. When the operation completes, you have a video asset ready for use in DVD Studio Pro. |

| Note:
DVD Film Transformer is a tool for working with progressive source video derived from either film or a progressive camera. It will not perform useful functions for naturally interlaced video such as that from a typical DV camera. |
