How to play Slider

General instructions

The goal of Slider is to combine 3 or more Pearls of the same color in a row or a column of the game board. The combined pearls will then be removed from the board. The pearls above the removed items will fall into the open spaces and new random pearls will fill up the board from the top. The player can make one move per turn, and the move must result in the removal of game pieces from the board. If the move does not result in the removal of pearls, the move will be automatically reversed (moves involving special pearls are an exception to this rule - see below).

To perform a move, the player uses the directional buttons around the game board. The player may move a row one place to the left or the right, and a column one spot up or down. The pearls in a row or column will then all shift one place in the direction of the button pressed. The first pearl in the direction of the move will "wrap around" to the other side of the row or column. For example, when shifting a row to the right, the right-most pearl will disappear and reappear on the left side of the row. Therefore, the "wrapped" pearl may create a combination on the side it reappears.

The player recieves points for the number of game pieces removed from the board. The more pearls are removed from the board with one turn the more points will be given per pearl (for example removing 7 pearls or more at once will yield twice the points per pearl than removing just 3). Additionally, the pearls randomly replacing the removed pearls may also form combinations and will also be removed from the board, thus creating a cascading effect. Cascades will also create additional bonus points.

Special Pearls

Special pearls are generated when a combination of black pearls is removed from the board. One of the black pearls will then turn into a special pearl. The special pearls come in two flavors -- good pearls (white), and bad pearls (black). The table below describes all the special pearls:

Game End

Where there are no move moves left that can remove a pearl from the game board, and there are no special pearls left on the board that you can activate. The game will be over.

This pearl locks a row. The row cannot be moved to the left or right for 5 turns*.
This pearl locks a column. The column cannot be moved up or down for 5 turns*.
Locks the color white. White pearls cannot be removed from the board for 5 turns*.
Locks the color purple. Purple pearls cannot be removed from the board for 5 turns*.
Locks the color green. Green pearls cannot be removed from the board for 5 turns*.
Locks the color yellow. Yellow pearls cannot be removed from the board for 5 turns*.
This is a Blocker pearl, it basically cannot be matched with other pearls. The pearl remains on the board until it is removed by a good pearl, or until the status bar is reset (see status bar section below).
This pearl switches the pearl to the left of the special pearl with the pearl to the right of it. Once the pearl has been used, it will turn into a random color pearl.
This pearl switches the pearl above the special pearl with the pearl below it. Once the pearl has been used, it will turn into a random color pearl.
The Row-Nova pearl removes the entire row it is in for 100 bonus points. It is also a good way to dispose of anyoing lock pearls.
The Column-Nova pearl removes the entire column it is in for 100 bonus points. Again, if align properly, it can also take out those bad pearls.
This Twister pearl will rotate the 8 pearls around it one spot counter-clock wise. The effect of this pearl will also wrap to the other side of the row or column. Once used it turns into a random color pearl.
Twister number two is the same as above, just rotates clock-wise.
The Wildcard pearl. Just your standard wildcard, use two pearls of the same color plus the wildcard to complete a combo.
The Ying-Yang pearl. Is it going to be good or bad? - Find out by pressing on it (results may vary)!

* Note: Clicking on a Special pearl does not count as a turn for the Lock pearls!

Status Bar

Below the game board, a status bar ticks up for the number of pearls you have cleaned from the board. Once the status bar is full, the game will remove those nasty bad special pearls that have gathered on your game board. However, it does the same with those good ones you have, too. Therefore, keep an eye on the status bar and use the good pearls before they disappear. After the special pearls are removed, the status bar resets and starts over.

Control Buttons

There are four control buttons on the corners of the game board. Their functions are:

Displays a hint for the next move.
Displays the highscore list.
Starts a new game.
Displays the game information page.
