Getting Quite a Set Up

Well, things are getting to be a lot of fun over here at my little apartment.  You'll be seeing some new pieces from me on the show reel soon.  I've caved in and upgraded to Vimeo Plus, which will allow me to start embedding HD videos here on the site.  At $60/year, not a bad deal at all for HD embed-able video hosting.

The real news though, is the new toys that are physically sitting here in the apartment with me right now, and the toy that is currently shipping, and will arrive this week.  Eric and I are in the process of really gathering the equipment to be able to organize a shoot on our own, or to supplement an existing set-up.  On Friday, I bought a Canon Vixia HF-10, and a Manfrotto tripod to go with it.  Gave it some exercise on Saturday taping an interview with Scott and Eric for Broadcast Assassin, and the picture came out beautifully.  You can see it and the PSA I shot with it on Broadcast Assassin tomorrow.

Today, I ordered what is known as the $14 Steadycam.  It's a simple take on the idea of a Steadycam.  I'm paying a bit more than $14 for mine, as I'm ordering a kit with all the work with tools done for me.  (No room for tools in the apartment.)  I'll have it by the end of the week, at which point Eric and I will both work on becoming proficient with it.  We're slowly building a good collection of equipment over here at the apartment.  Next will probably be a 2nd battery, charger, and wide angle lens for the camera.  :-D
