Cisco Discovery Protocol Reporter (CDPR) is an application that uses the Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) to locate the Cisco switchport to which a host running CDPR is connected. It is very useful for performing network moves, adds, and changes since that frequently requires tracing data jacks to Ethernet switchports. Enter CDPR, which finds the switchport to which a given data jack is connected. Just as Cisco administrators use “show cdp neighbor” on Cisco switches to locate or test for adjacent switches, you may use CDPR running on a PowerBook or Macbook to locate the switch and switchport to which a given data jack is connected.
This section covers installing general support software required for Ntop.
You may install the MacPorts package manager with these instructions, which include instructions for installing XWindows (X11). Follow the instructions carefully and perform all non-optional steps.
Execute the cdpr command as the root user.
%%sudo cdpr
CDPR displays a menu of the network interfaces available as shown.
