1961 Pearson Triton #329

Our 1961 Pearson Triton has been lovingly maintained and upgraded over the years. She is a wonderful boat to sail and she takes care of her crew when things get rough. Many of her sisterships have circumnavigated, and the Triton was inducted in the Sailboat Hall of Fame in 1995. The very active owners' association has more historical data on its web page, as well as a treasure trove of technical information and maintenance tips.

Some notable maintenance and improvement projects we completed:

  • Rubrail replacement, 2005
  • Pulpit replacement, 2004
  • Custom-made pushpit added, 2005
  • Mainsail reconditioning and new cover, 2005
  • New automatic 1500 GPH Rule-Mate bilge pump, 2005
  • Atomic 4 engine re-built, 2006, including: new water pump, new electrical fuel pump, new carburetor, new electronic ignition (all using certified Moyer Marine A4 parts), new Racor fuel filter
  • New Indigo A4 propeller, 2006
  • Complete removal of old paint in forward cabin, followed by repainting with 2-part Interlux, 2004
  • Transformed V-Berth into double bed, added new custom-made cushions, 2004

The boat has a large inventory of sails: 2 mains, 2 genoas (120 and 130), 2 jibs (100 and storm), 1 spinnaker, and the corresponding running rigging. A new Harken traveller and adjustable backstay were added in 2002, and the running rigging was replaced. The winches were upgraded to 2 #22, well above the original spec's and greatly reducing the amount of strength necessary to trim the genoa.
