Good riddance to Santorum and Hostettler


The voters of Pennsylvania sent virulently anti-gay Senator Rick Santorum home to play with his dog. With 95.8% of the districts counted, Bob Casey (58.7%) has defeated Santorum (41.3%) by a wide margin.

Rep. John Hostettler, who drafted the anti-gay Marriage Protection Act, was defeated by Brad Ellsworth in Indiana by a margin of 61% to 39%. Matt Foreman, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, said, "We are thrilled, ecstatic and overjoyed that Rick Santorum has been thrashed at the polls. His extreme and gratuitous homophobia will no longer pollute the Senate. Good riddance. Ditto for Hostettler in the House. To him we offer an equally enthusiastic good-bye."
