Apple announced on Friday that the iTunes Store will no longer carry NBC TV shows. This includes the loss of Heroes, Law and Order, Scrubs, Stargate SG-1 and Battlestar Galactica.

Why would Gene Shalit interpret Brokeback Mountain homophobically?


The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) praised Gene Shalit for his response to Today show viewers who were angry and upset by his comments on Brokeback Mountain. The trouble is that he didn't retract the comments that hurt. He is entitled to his opinion, but in this case his opinion is based on an objectively erroneous view of the film.

Imax films threatened by creationists 


The Observer reported that in the U.S. some "Imax cinemas — including some at science museums — are refusing to show movies that mention the subject [of evolution] or suggest that Earth's origins do not conform with biblical descriptions." The targeted films include Cosmic Voyage, Galapagos, and Volcanoes of the Deep Sea.

Play: José Rivera's "Marisol" is currently onstage at Carnegie Mellon 


Marisol is a fantasy play about homeless people and violence on the street. It is premised on the idea that the cause of the decline of order and civilization is the waning of the influence of God in the world. It promotes the view that the appropriate response is for people to start standing up for themselves and stop being dependent on divine intervention to save them.
