G. E. Lessing's play Nathan the Wise to be simulcast in Pittsburgh and
Qatar
G. E. Lessing's play
Nathan the
Wise is currently on-stage (through this
Saturday) in the Chosky Theater at the Purnell Center for the Arts at Carnegie
Mellon University. The production is excellent.
Nathan the
Wise is a play about religious tolerance,
about how peoples with diverse views may live together in peace. The story is
set in Jerusalem. The beautiful scenery and neat lighting divides the Chosky
stage into three parts for the Christians, the Muslims and the Jew, with a
central space where they meet, interact, and philosophize. The acting is very
good and the costumes are wonderful.
A
special live performance on Saturday, March 11, at 11 a.m. EST will be simulcast
at Carnegie Mellon Qatar in Doha, Qatar. It will be free and open to the public
here in Pittsburgh. There will be a moderated talkback after the performance.
Tickets can be reserved at 412-268-2407.
