Metropolitan Opera auditions to be held in Pittsburgh


The Metropolitan Opera National Council district auditions will be held in Pittsburgh on Jan. 14 (Sat.) at 10:00 a.m. in the Kresge Theater at Carnegie Mellon University. It's free and open to the public.

The regional auditions will be held in Pittsburgh on Jan. 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. Also free and open to the public.

The auditions are held annually in sixteen Regions of the United States and Canada. There are fifty Districts within these Regions. The Auditions are administered by National Council members and volunteers in each region. Winners of the District auditions advance to their Region Finals where they compete to win a trip to New York to participate in the National Semi-Finals, a competition held on the stage of The Metropolitan Opera.
