Cool Mac OS X Software: VirtueDesktops

Apple is still months away from releasing a version of Mac OS X with virtual desktops (Spaces), but you can have them now with the free VirtueDesktops app.

VirtueDesktops manages an unlimited number of virtual desktops and makes it easy to switch between them either from the keyboard alone or from a menu. Typically you would keep different apps on different desktops, but you can specify that certain apps should appear on every desktop. For example, one might put iChat on every desktop to make sure an incoming message is not missed. VirtueDesktops works well with Apple's Exposé and with Frank Vercruesse's ASM application menu.

You can get the app here: VirtueDesktops. It's a universal binary. The source code is also available if you're interested.
