Mac OS X 10.4.4 broke sound output to my USB headset
After installing the latest Apple updates to Mac
OS X, sound output to my Plantronics DSP 300 Digital USB headset no longer works
reliably.
Just after rebooting my iMac G5, sound output to
the headset works briefly and then abruptly stops. I can just be listening to
music from iTunes or watching a DVD with DVD Player (and doing nothing else) and
the sound will suddenly disappear. Switching sound output to the internal
speakers restores the sound. I removed 3rd party sound utilities that might
have conflicted with the new system, but that didn't help.
