January was unusually warm in Pittsburgh


The National Weather Service reported that Pittsburgh had its warmest January in 56 years.

The average high this January was 46.2 degrees. The average low was 30.0. This gives a mean temperature of 38.1 degrees, which is 10.6 degrees above normal, the 8th warmest January ever, and the warmest since 40.8 degrees in 1950. The warmest January on record is 44.4 degrees from 1880.

Normals for January are high 35.1, low 19.9, mean 27.5. Temperature records for Pittsburgh date back to 1871.
