Map nut, that's me (redux)[I wrote this post Tuesday, and it was in the
blog Tuesday, and then I just noticed, hey, where'd it go? It was still on the
"Favorite Links" category page, but gone everywhere else. I haven't figured out
how it got removed from the blog, but I found it in my iBlog backup directory,
so I am reposting it. Quick, read it fast, before it goes away
again.]
NationalAtlas.gov is a remarkable
site I just discovered.
Maps, maps, and more maps! Political maps:
Geologic-type maps:
And crime maps, biology maps, agriculture maps, EVERY kind of map of the USA. Some of the common ones are pre-made, and the Map Maker allows you to make any custom map you want. Bat population of Ottawa County, Illinois? Check. Breast cancer mortality in New England? Can do. Topographic map of northern Minnesota? Yes -- would you prefer color, or grayscale? Heaven. And you can order a lot of the maps as large-format wall maps, in case you are redecorating and don't have one of those four-foot-wide printers. Posted: Thu - December 8, 2005 at 09:08 AM |
