My drug of choice is not a choice, it turns outHere is an article
that says that scientists at the University of Michigan Medical School have
discovered that some people have a different type of nicotine receptor gene than
most people, and the people with the different type of gene will enjoy their
first cigarette, whereas most people will get nauseated.
Meaning, some folks are genetically
predisposed to be smokers. Expect class-action lawsuits against anti-smoking
laws -- if other behaviors can be declared okay because "I was born this way,"
then this one can, too.
I do not need to have my genome mapped to know I have this newly-discovered gene type. The first time I ever smoked a cigarette -- really smoked a cigarette, meaning, the first time I inhaled a cigarette instead of just sucking the smoke into my mouth -- I knew I wanted more. I may have coughed a little, but not much, and I instantly felt good. I remember it quite clearly. It was wonderful. Posted: Sun - August 10, 2008 at 10:11 AM |
