More public works news

They are pouring the new sidewalks on Third Avenue.

They have the right lane of Fourth Avenue fully dug up at the bus stop across the street.

But, now, they also have the right lane of Fourth Avenue dug up down the street, in front of Fire Station 2. There is not bus stop there. What gives? And, how will the fire trucks respond to a call?

It turns out that they are renovating the fire station, and the fire trucks have been gone to a temporary location for three weeks already. Now that I think about it, it HAS been an awful lot quieter around here. And it's going to be quiet for fifteen months, it says. Next to Fire Station 2 is the Fire Department's 911 center, and it says they are going to be seismically retrofitting it, and whatnot.

I am glad the city has all this extra money to do these projects.
