Your triceps will be fabulousReaders who are looking for a different kind
of workout may wish to purchase a Champiot Ultra, the "rowing
machine on wheels."
It is a little four-wheel buggy that is
propelled by the rider using his arms to pull and push on a yoke, which drives
the rear wheels. It is similar to an old-style railroad
velocipede. You could alternate with your bicycle and work out a
different pair of limbs on different days. Except I'm not sure you it would be
legal, or wise, to operate your Champiot Ultra in the street. But on a trail,
you could scoot.
I can't tell if it has the ability to shift gears, so I'm not sure how it would be on hills. But it has hand brakes. When I was a kid, I remember a similar machine being sold for kids; it was called an "Irish Mail." I never had one, but they looked like fun. Champiot also sells similarly-propelled watercraft, called the Rowlake, in which the motion of the yoke turns a paddlewheel. Hm. If you are going to use a rowing motion to propel a boat, why not just row? Posted: Tue - October 30, 2007 at 11:08 AM |
