Maggie finds snake

Maggie located our California kingsnake which escaped on Friday.

I have been feeling absolutely awful since I went to feed the snakes on Saturday and found that our newest addition, a California kingsnake rescued from a construction site, was missing from her cage. I tore the herp room apart (luckily I don't have too much stuff for her to hide in). After making sure she wasn't in the herp room, I looked in the nearby laundry room and bathroom which has very few hiding spaces. I even tore the bottom of the cabinet off in the bathroom.

At this point, I figured I either had missed her or she had somehow gotten into the garage or the rest of the house and it would be very hard to find her. I decided to keep spot checking for the snake and keep an eye on the cats who often can hear or see a hidden snake.

Anyway, tonight Nancy was watching TV and she pointed out to me that Maggie was intently looking at the laundry room door. Sure enough the snake was under the clothes dryer. I had looked under the wash and dryer but I guess she was probably inside. Whew. I'm glad she turned out OK (although she did miss feeding).
