Wet weather in Vegas
We had a pleasantly rainy weekend and start of
the week, Monday evening I measured the most rain that I've seen in my rain
gauge — 0.80 inches. That follows 0.32 inches on Sunday and 0.25 on
Saturday. The Weather Service reports:
"The most rainfall ever recorded on
February 22 was set yesterday at McCarran International Airport with 0.68
inches. The old record which was set in 1941 was 0.37 inches. In addition the
high temperature at Las Vegas mccarran airport yesterday was 50 degrees. This
was the coolest high temperature ever recorded on this date. The old record was
51 degrees set in 1955."
My records
vary a bit from the NWS office at the airport because I check my gauge for the
day about 5 or 6 p.m. when I get home from work and since the weather service
people are paid, they presumably check their gauge at midnight.
