A nice wet day

So far at 10:00 pm we have had 0.83 inches of rain here at the house. (This is using my “put on the rain jacket, splash through the puddles, carry the gauge under the porch light, dump it out and put it back on the wall” manual Weather Service issued gauge.”) Of course that is part of the fun.

I’ve had 6.65 inches so far this year and with rain forecast the rest of the week, we should have a really high total for the year. Airport is reporting 0.83 inches (that’s a bit of a coincidence) so far today.

Also, you can check the Flood Control rain gauges and reservoir levels at their site:

http://www.ccrfcd.org/ftrs.htm

If you click all the way through to a specific reservoir you can get the current and past water level, release rate and if you click on the yellow dot at the bottom of the page you can get a cool chart of the water level against the levels of the spillways, trash racks, and other reservoir features. The Oakey Detention basin (about three blocks away and directly upstream of the house) currently has 2.48 feet of water in it and is discharging 17 cubic feet per second. The dam is 31 feet high so I think we are safe tonight.
