Hurricane KatrinaOur thoughts and prayers go out to the people of
the Gulf Coast (especially those in Louisiana) in danger from Hurricane Katrina.
I visited New Orleans in 1995 and really enjoyed my stay there. The food and
music was amazing, I enjoyed a Monet exhibit, the French Quarter, Bourbon Street
(which was pretty crazy on a Tuesday night even for a guy from Vegas!). The
history of the city was outstanding and fascinating. I especially enjoyed
learning about the mysterious pirate Jean
Lafitte and visiting the General Andrew Jackson's crushing victory
over the British in the Battle of New Orleans (a good military lesson
can be learned here — if your battle plan requires special equipment, make
sure you bring it to the battle.) Anyway, I very much enjoyed my trip to New
Orleans hope the city weathers the storm. For some good information on the
hurricane, check out this link. Wikipedia does a great job outlining the
threats to the city's levees, pumps and highways. Also, check out this link for detailed information on the threats to
New Orleans.
