What is The Stone?Well, you might get a different answer depending on who you talk to. According to the web page, the Stone is an "online mystery as old as Time... your key to a world of puzzles and games with a decidedly millennial twist." Some of the players of the Stone will tell you that it is a collection of wonderfully challenging puzzles that push the envelope of creativity. Others will tell you that the Stone is the key to an Enigma that involves much more than we currently understand. However, everyone who plays the Stone will agree that it is a blast. The puzzles on the Stone range from simple visual puzzles that many people can answer within a few minutes to complex puzzles that require time to research the answers. The research that is involved is half of the fun, many times now I have heard a player complain that they now know more about something than they ever would have (or wanted to) because they had to research in order to answer a puzzle. In any case, the Stone is fun. Some of the puzzles are difficult, and many people give up because they don't see how the puzzles work. The best thing to do if you get stuck on something, or you just don't understand, is to ask for advice in the Commons. The Commons is the area of the Stone that is a gathering place for people to discuss the puzzles on the Stone (among other things). The Commons was the beginning of an online community of people who share hints about the puzzles, ideas about life, and theories about the direction that the Stone is taking. Some things seem to keep popping up among the Commons, and that is why I decided to build this web page. I wanted to build this web page as a kind of 'visual FAQ' for people who are interested in different aspects of the Stone. I hope that the information that I am providing here will be usefu to you. I am not the source of the information that is presented here, I have just taken it and placed it all in one place, to make it easier to peruse. |
Stone Page News 2001-Feb-11 - This wonderful site rises from the grave! MiCTLaN's Stone Page is now being hosted by dswtan & Apple. There will be a few tidyings-up done after this initial rebirth, but largely my intention is to preserve what was in the original as much as possible, while removing misleading things that are no longer relevant like obsolete links. This page is not here to help people to cheat. It is here to help them to learn. Maybe someone has noticed something that you have overlooked. Perhaps you have taken something for granted that never occurred to anyone else. This page is here to bring these things together. This page is dedicated to the Stone Community.
