FROM THE EAST

Donald Wheeler, WM

I hope that all are having a warm and safe winter. February is a snow month so we should expect more winter weather than we have had already.

As we open 2007, there are three specific activities to which I call your attention.  They will be covered in greater detail later in this issue.

On February 24th at 2:00 pm, we will be having our veterans program, will honor our Special Ladies, and be giving out our Community Service Award. The Most Worshipful Grand Master, David J. Lamprey, Sr., will be presenting the 50 and 60-year Veterans awards. Refreshments will be served after the program.

Our annual meeting is scheduled for March 7. I encourage all brethren who can make it, to attend  The Officers for the coming year will be elected and other important business will be conducted.

The installation of Officers will be on March 10th at 2:00pm. MW Jeremy J. Sawyer, PGM will be the Installing Master and as always, will do a wonderful job. Refreshments will be served after. I once again encourage as many as can, to come and support the incoming Officers as we start another year of activities.

I would like to thank in advance, all of the Brethren who help and support our Lodge. Let's make the coming year, one that truly reflects what our great institution is all about.

THE NEW YEAR BEGINS

The Worshipful Master in his “From the East” message has outlined an ambitious start for our new year.  He also needs our support to make the beginning, middle and end a successful year, and it begins with all of us to make it so.  For those who live nearby and are able to attend lodge, we hope we will see you.  For those unable because of distance or other factors, a note would help maintain contact and keep our lodge in touch with all.

From a practical point of view, in order for this contact to exist, we need to keep our communication lines open.  If you move and have an address change please let the Secretary know. And if your emails address changes, we need to know that also.  We can’t let you know what is going on in your lodge without this information.  It greatly increases our chances of making 2007 a successful year.

In short, keep in touch with your lodge.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

Saturday February 24 starts the New Year with the presentation of veterans’ medals to several long-term brothers.  The MW Grand Mid J. Lamprey, Sr. will present a 60 Year Veterans Certificate to Brother Lincoln Shedd and 50 year Veterans Medals to Brother JD Colcord, Neal Geer, and Ellsworth Stevens.  Brother Geer resides in the state of Washington and arrangements will be made to have the Grand Lodge in that state present his medal.  Brother Stevens is in a nursing home, and will have his medal presented there at a later date.

Forty-year pins will be presented to brothers Anthony Walker and Richard K. Boyd, and brothers Fred W. Courser, III and Fred S. Fairneny will receive their 25-year pins.

This is a semi-public program, so family and friends are cordially invited to attend.

      It all begins at 2:00.

ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS

The first stated meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday March 7.  This will be the occasion of our annual meeting also.

An important item of business for this session will be a report from the Masonic Association on the capital needs of our building and an estimated cost for making necessary repairs and renovations to our building.

The election of your lodge leadership will also take place at this meeting, so you can see your participation in this important event is vital.

Lodge will open at 7:30.  Dinner will be served prior to the meeting.
