Richard Feynman

Dick Feynman was considered by many to be one of the most brilliant theoretical physicists of his time, with contributions including, but not exhausted by, the theory of weak interactions, the diagrams that bear his name, nanotechnology, quantum computing, and quantum electrodynamics, for which he won the Nobel Prize in 1965. He was also an accomplished artist and musician. His numerous books include the three volume set, "The Feynman Lectures on Physics" which have educated generations of physicists and was considered by Feynman himself to be one of his greatest achievements. Dick was no ordinary Genius.

The Rev. Dr. Douglas R. A. Hare is undoubtedly one of the finest theological scholars of our modern time. Not only fluent in Biblical Greek and Hebrew, he has studied at universities and seminaries from Pennsylvania, USA to Heidelberg, Germany. Doug has written many books and countless articles, including "Matthew" for the Biblical Commentary Series, "Mark: A Theological Treatise", and is the Professor Emeritus of New Testament Theology at Pittsburgh Presbyterian Seminary. A brilliant author, a peaceful soul, and a truly staggering intellect.

John Skoyles

A modern day Nietzsche, John Skoyles was, as a child very nearly one more victim of a indoctrinated society of "Same thinkers." Like Dr. Davis, himself a severe Dyslexic, Dr. Skoyles was nearly "wastebasketed" into the "teacher knows best" mentality that has failed so many aspiring Hawkings, Einstiens and Sagans. John says he maintains his "five-year-old innocent filled with curiosity" life as he writes about subjects most of us can only begin to comprehend. What's more, he does so in a non-assuming voice that is both disarming and captivating.  His book with Dorion Sagan "Up From Dragons" is required reading for anyone serious about understanding how the human intelligence evolved.

Lynn Margulis

Lynn Margulis

Responsible for the symbiotic theory of cell evolution, which she introduced in the books "The Origin of Eukaryotic Cells" and "Symbiosis in Cell Evolution", and the Gaia hypothesis, which posits the earth as being a "super organismic system". Both the Gaia and the symbiotic theories are detailed in her recent work "Symbiotic Planet: A New Look at Evolution." She has written more than 20 books on biology and related disciplines. A brilliant scientist and a gifted author.

Stephen J. Gould

Stephen Jay Gould was among the best known and widely read scientists of the late 20th century. A paleontologist and educator at Harvard University, Gould made his largest contributions to science as the leading spokes-person for evolutionary theory. His monthly columns in Natural History magazine and his popular works on evolution have earned him numerous awards and one of the largest readerships in the popular-science genre — penning altogether over twenty successful books throughout his career.  There are far too few Stephen Goulds in our world.

Elaine Morgan

Elaine Morgan

Originally known as a television scriptwriter, playwright, and social critic, she electrified the science world in the 70's with her controversial works "The Descent of Woman", and "The Aquatic Ape". She has further elaborated the Aquatic Ape Theory in the recent works "The Scars of Evolution: What Our Bodies Tell Us about Human Origins", and "The Descent of the Child". I especially enjoy Elaine's ability to state her case clearly and concisely and her willingness to listen to all sides.

Carl Sagan

Carl Sagan was known and loved by many as the creator and narrator of the Cosmos series, as well as the author of numerous works including "Broca's Brain", "The Dragons of Eden", and the novel "Contact". A frequent advisor to presidents and NASA, he helped to shape national science policy, and also designed the interstellar message plaques for the Voyager program. He has the odd distinction of perhaps being best known for a phrase he never spoke, "billions and billions", and it is estimated that his combined works reached over a billion people.  In my opinion, one of the greatest human beings to have ever lived.

James Randi

Freethinker and magician James Randi is perhaps the best known skeptic in the world. His exhortation to "prove it" is an anathema to all psychics, mediums, faith healers, and any others who claim to have developed paranormal abilities. He is a founding member of CISCOP, the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal, and a recipient of the MacArthur Foundation "Genius" Grant.  His ability to devastate his opponents with clear thinking and logic is something everyone should witness.
