Choices During Guided Instruction

"To Teach is to Learn Twice"--help someone else learn something you already know...you'll learn how to teach, they'll learn the skill you're teaching, and you'll probably learn something new along the way (or at least reinforce what you already know). How to Help Someone Use a Computer:

"Sage on the Stage" vs. "Guide on the Side"
Practice your newly acquired skills. Can you find another way to do it (keyboard shortcut, right click, . . . )?
Try some of the tutorials as a means of practicing your new skill. Which one did you like or not like? Why?
Figure out what can go wrong when using this feature so you can help troubleshoot when your students are using it.

Try out the lesson plans associated with the given topic(s) and see if they really work. What did you learn from them? How would you modify them for your grade level, your teaching style, your unit plan?
Search for other lesson plans that teach the given topic(s). Share your good findings with the group. Lesson Plans that Integrate Technology into the Curriculum
Create your own lesson plan from scratch or document the new lesson plan you would create that is modified from an existing lesson plan (be sure to give credit to the source). Options During "Apply What You've Learned"
Resources
Go back to anything we did during the day that you want to finish or explore further, including "choices during guided instruction".

Go back to anything we did on prior days that you want to finish or explore further.

Work on pieces of your unit plan (the one from last week or the one from this week, if you started a new one). Work on your brochure, rubric, unit plan documentation, and/or PowerPoint that are in the unit. Create new student support materials or teacher support materials.
Intel book Module 5: Creating Student Support Materials
Intel book Module 7: Creating Teacher Support Materials
Jazz up your unit plan. Are your curriculum-framing questions (both essential and unit) really fascinating, and captivating? Look through other unit plans for ideas. Look through the PowerPoint on curriculum-framing questions for more information, ideas, and tips.
CD in the Intel book
Look for Palm software that goes with your unit (or just look for Palm software that interests you...more personal use of your Palm makes you a better Palm user which is good for your use of Palm in the classroom).
My favorite Palm resources

Learn more about PowerPoint. Jazz up your PowerPoint about your unit, create PowerPoints that you can use to support your unit (ones that you would use to present material to your students) or that are samples of what you would want your students to create as part of the unit.
Integrating PowerPoint in the Curriculum
Play with Inspiration some more. Ask questions, try it out, design student or teacher support materials using Inspiration to support your unit.
See Kidspiration or Inspiration for Palm OS; explore curriculum integration ideas using Inspiration

Work on your webpage to support your unit.

Find a webquest (or additional webquest(s)) to support your unit(s).

Spend time with Theresa going over the details of your unit plan(s). You must meet with her at least once during the week.
