Do-Gooders: How Liberals Hurt Those They Claim to Help (And the Rest of Us)

Mona Charen continues to impress. Like her previous book, Useful Idiots: How Liberals Got It Wrong in the Cold War and Still Blame America First, she can bash liberals and their destructive but powerful control over conventional wisdom with the best of them. She's an older, brunette, non-sarcastic Ann Coulter. You will not read this if you're even remotely leftist. It would be like me reading a Michael Moore book (and of course Charen knows whereof she speaks and Moore is clueless). You might not even bother if you're of a conservative bent (Charen is a conservative pundit) because as one self-styled conservative reviewing her book said, it's just too overwhelming and one sided. "Everything here is old news". Well it is to a conservative. She just lays it out chapter and verse and it's not a pretty picture. It's a tragedy and one that Big Government Republicans are not likely to change. Ronald Reagan couldn't do it. The '94 Republican revolution couldn't do it. I can't imagine how it will reverse itself. But stranger things have happened. Welfare reform did happen.

So read this to gather your ammunition and your talking points and see if a real revolution materializes.

covers:
liberals in the judiciary
liberals and race relations
welfare
family deterioration
homelessness
classroom liberals
