WHAT DO OTHER CT POLITCAL REPORTERS HAVE TO SAY?
PLUS MY OWN TWO CENTS
I'll try and keep tabs on Connecticut political
thought offered up by folks who regularly cover the State Capitol. Here are
recent columns by Ken Dixon he says Rowland's Chief of Staff and Communications
Director Dean Pagani took a political hit for Rowland http://www.connpost.com/Stories/0,1413,96%257E3771%257E1724880,00.html
Also Greg Hladky from the New Haven Register

says Mayor John Destefano faces long odds to become CT's next
governor. I agree with Ken that Dean took one for the home team, however I'm
not ready to quickly discount Destefano's chances of winning the democratic nod.
No matter that he's keeping his options open Rowland's not going to run for
re-election. So the field will be wide open for both parties. I don't think Dick
Blumenthal really wants to run, The AG might want Joe Lieberman to win the
White House more than Joe does. That way he would have clear sailing to
Lieberman's Senate seat. I think voters in CT may be ready for a so-called
outsider to run the State. I know Susan Bysiewicz, Denise Nappier and Jodi Rell
are popular names right now, but Destefano (he's president of the National
League of Cities and is in tight with the CT Conference of Municipalities) may
be able to tap into lingering budget anger cities and towns currently have
toward State leaders.
