I'LL KEEP IT BRIEF
ANOTHER "BIG" DAY ON
WEDNESDAY
SNIFF, SNIFF,
SNIFFGot a bad cold, need to get
some rest, so I'll keep it brief. The
guv dipped his political toes into the waters today. The reception was still
chilly from the press and the public. But hey, he's trying. It's still too soon
to see if this will be the pattern, But Rowland may be taking a little bit of
Congressman Chris Shay's advice in regards to engaging the media to the point of
absurdity. Here's what I mean: The
guv makes a brief public appearance, the media chases, he stops for a few
questions.....the same questions will be asked over and over...'Are you going to
resign?' ' What's your reaction to so and so saying you should resign?' 'How
tough is it to govern with so little political support' And the guv's response
will always be "I'm not going to resign," "I am going about the business of
governing," "There is a federal investigation" "I respect the the right of so
and so to do so and so......blah, blah,
blah."It's going to be that way folks,
until there is word on what the Feds are going to do. What I'm about to say is
not to demean John Rowland in any way, but he is not dealing in the same reality
you and I have to deal with. If you and are backed into a corner you can either
fight or quit. In some people's mind by quitting you can live to fight another
day, but you'll always have to live with the fact that you quit. By fighting,
you may still lose, you might even get your ass kicked, but hey! You went out
on your own terms. It's agreed by most that Rowland resigning is the best move
for the State, but that's a reality the governor can't face right now, and to be
honest he hasn't been forced to face politically. In fact, I'll go out on the
line to disagree with almost everyone who says the governor has been weakened
politically. I say he's stronger than any politician in the state. Despite the
numerous calls for him to quit. He's still standing,......that is until the feds
come calling, that's when the end of this story will finally be
written.BRAD
DAVISI spent the morning at the radio
studios of WDRC. Brad Davis is far and away the biggest Rowland supporter. I
leave it that. My story airs tonight at
10LYONS
DENSpeaker of the House Moira Lyons will
officially tell the Guv of her intentions to create some sort of investigative
panel. Stay tuned!WAY BACK
MACHINEHere is a story from a former
reporter who knew Rowland way back when http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?BRD=1342&dept_id=433252&newsid=10802062&PAG=461&rfi=9
