Rick
Warren's Purpose-Driven
Life – including my testimony .
When I first saw the term "Life Message", I
assumed that Rick was just using a fancy term for "testimony." However, he
actually uses it much more broadly, to include:
• "Your
testimony:
the story of how you began a relationship with Jesus"
• "Your
life
lessons: the most important lessons God has
taught you"
• "Your
godly
passions: the issues God shaped you to care
about most"
• "The
Good
News: the message of
salvation"He also mention we "have
many other testimonies besides [our] salvation story." In many ways, this
entire blog (and its companion Geekz2Men list) is a testimony to what God has
done -- and is doing -- in my life. Some other online testimonies I've written
are:
• Unforgiven:
a dramatized testimony of forgiveness, in three persons
• The Miracle of
Ernie's Engagement: how I met my wife, in
1999However, as far as I can tell,
I've never posted my actual salvation story. Let me remedy that today by
posting my testimony here. Even though I probably wrote
it a decade ago -- and the main events happened 25 years ago -- it is just as
true today as it was then:I
won't say that my life is perfect, or that I understand everything about God and
the Bible. I just know what I was, what I am, and what I am becoming. And that I
owe all of that to a God who loves me and has the power to save me from myself,
and make me into His image, His son.
That
is why I am Christian.Amen. May it
be so
forevermore!Prayer:
God, I thank you for the amazing things
you've done in my life over the decades. Forgive me for losing sight of all
that you've done for me, of the depths of sin and the even greater depths of
your grace. May my life continue to be a testimony to You, and You alone. In
Jesus name I pray, Amen.
