In Memoriam: Larry Trout, Jan 13, 2006
Larry is (was?) a mutual friend of Alan and mine from Caltech.
I'm not entirely sure why I'm blogging this. I
worked with Larry in the Christian Fellowship while we were there, but we
weren't particularly close, and I haven't really kept in touch afterwards. I
got a burst of messages from him a year or two ago, I think when he got a lung
transplant for his cystic fibrosis, but that's pretty much
it.
Still, I felt like Larry's passing deserves some tangible recognition, and this seemed the least I could do. I suppose he is probably my first "peer" to die since the 1980's (that I know of), which is no small thing.
