I knew what the tile image was going to be, ages before it arrived...a last minute panic with no inspiration.

I was right.

Luckily, as I sat on the porcelain thinking chair, one of my daughter's ceramic wall-fish suffered an attack of the glue-failures, and plummetted onto my Sunday paper, narrowly missing my expensive coiffe as it descended.

That's it, I thought in relieved exhilaration. Of course...a flying fish.

So there it was. The perfect subject for a Mosaic tile. What an inspiration. What a creative spark. What luck.

Later that morning, (after my hair was dry, naturally), I opened the template from Lesh and gazed for the first time on the Machiavellian, totally diabolical border selection I was expected to match. Whoever did the tile above mine and to the right, may I simply say, thanks very bloody much. What a pair of swine. What the heck did I ever do to you?

I spent the first five hours of the tile task attempting to blend those monsterously complex mind twisters into something vaguely integrated with my subject.

And failing.

Miserably.

Well, I guess I never really needed that five hours for anything else anyway.
