For this mosaic, I wanted to have something with my grand-babes in it. I had the idea of having one of them being held by a person's hands, contrasting the harshness of the hands with the delicate features of the little one. Then I remembered a shot I saw one time with a person holding water in his hands with a baby looking out from the water as in a reflection.

I looked around for some shots that could be pieced together to work, and came upon the shot of my granddaughter tossing pebbles in the water. The elements rather flowed together (pun intended) from there. I took several shots of my hands and settled on a shot that had the perspective I wanted.

I layered the babe shot in the hands, but decided that the water needed some more color so I created a mask and painted some color in the water. I wanted the water to flow out between my fingers but couldn't figure out how to paint that by hand, my lack of talent showing its mighty head. I found this waterfall of the Yellowstone River in that park and cloned it in a few places between the fingers, blurring the splash as it tumbled into the water below.

Then I created the sky and blended the sky into the water below allowing the hands to dominate the scene.

Now I had to do something with Swatcat's border. Since it was rather obvious that it was rocks with lavender flowers, I cloned a few more along the edge to make them more specific. Also, along the bottom. After doing that the square didn't look balanced, with just the border on the left, so I made a copy and flipped it over on the right to help balance the square.
